Ways to Get Involved on Campus as a Freshman!

The WORST thing you could do in college is focus on school! Sounds weird right? Well I promise, if you spend all your time in the classroom and your dorm, you’re going to be miserable and overall less successful. Don’t get me wrong school work is very important, but getting involved on your campus is equally as important.

That doesn’t necessarily mean join a million clubs, but put yourself out there and be social. It could be simple like going to The Mix and getting frozen yogurt with your new roommate or actually going to one of those events your RA hosts. But my favorite way to hang out with friends is at Valdosta State football games!

Home football games are the highlight of every Fall semester here at VSU and everyone and their mother is out there cheering on the Blazers. So if you want to meet new people and see what organizations are out there, football games are an easy place to start. Organizations like the Residence Hall Association, the Student Government Association, and all of Greek life are out there having a blast! How could someone not be inspired to get involved?

Involved college student are successful college students! Don’t just take it from me, Google it if you have to, but its legit. Students who are involved on campus have better grades, have more friends, are more desirable to employers, and are overall happier people. Please don’t be “that person” who sits in their extra-long twin sized bed and watches Netflix all day. College is what you make it! Get involved and make it fun!
